Where My wizards are at....

I know,  I know its being along time between my last few posts.  Due to family commitments I have not being able to either play wizard,   or just be on line that much recently.  But I am still here!  My life wizard is currently making slow work of Avalon.  My fire wizard is still sadly languishing in Dragonspyre.  I have an ice wizard in Marleybone and a death wizard now in Mooshu.  My death wizard finally managed to save enough gold - ( it only took until Mooshu ) to purchase her first home.  We opted for the Death House,  which is really great,  just running around it is helping to create a spooky vibe just before Halloween.

The house has some great bits and pieces including a celler/torture chamber.  A bat that flies past the outside and those two circular windows at the front blink like eyes.  It's so fast I just can't catch it on the screen capture :(
My life wizard has now got her main pet the Storm cat ' Zoe ' on its way to being trained all the way to Epic,  just hoping the last talent slot won't be a let down after all that pet training.
  My life wizard also had a strange moment the other day,  where she actually had too much gold.  Yep, we had reached our limits and had to spend some quickly.  So,  I decided to hatch a new pet, after nearly twenty minutes of being in the hatchery,  without any success,  looking for any pet I didn't yet have and a pet owner who was nice enough to hatch with me.  I began to get very,  very bored and agreed to hatch with a wizard who had an Onyx Shenlong Dragon.  Now I do already have one of these,  however this one had a very high pedigree.  So I decided to go ahead.

Now this hatch went at lightening speed so I didn't get to see the original Onyx Shenlong Dragons talent slots properly.  I know the original sire was a hybrid,  due to its high pedigree.  But as to what talents Duncan may manifest - it should just be fun to find out.
So far I have not being disappointed,  after training ' Duncan ' until he reached teen.  He received the Cloud of bugs ability.

Cloud of bugs is an epic talent,  basically Duncan has the ability to cast ' Locust Swarm ' during a fight.  This is the first time one of my pets has manifested this talent,  and I've not seen another pet do this yet during a fight so am looking forward to this and will try to get some good pictures when it finally happens. 
  Still having some green energy left and a lot of pet snacks,  I managed to press Duncan on with his training until he reached adult and again I was really pleased as he manifested the Unicorn Talent :)

Unicorn certainly a very handy talent.



I will be continue with Duncans pet training as I have no idea what he will manifest next,  I know he stands a good chance of inheriting the spritely talent as Zoe one of his sires has that talent.  It will just be fun to find out.

Well I logged on today which is the 2nd and still picked up the frosted drakes, it appears that you may be able to pick up a pet snack daily but the snacks themselves  may not alternate daily.   Still I'm very pleased as frosted drakes is one of the snacks my snowball pet loves. 
Anyway if you fancy parting with some crowns and are pet mad this may be the week for your wizard to go on a shopping expedition to the crown shop. 







 Yes i finally managed to get a snowball pet,  after several unsuccessful pet hatches where I received the same pet back.  Here's hoping for some great talents to manifest as this is a very mixed pedigree pet.  As long as he doesn't manifest the dreaded taunt things should be fine.  At teen he has manifested pip o plenty,  so far not too bad.

I Wanna Foo Dog - The Kirins Hoard Pack

Realising that the little niggling voice at the back of my mind wasn't going to shut up about how great those Foo Dogs looked I finally relented and bought some Kirins Hoard packs.  ( well when I say some I mean a lot of Kirins Hoard packs ).  Now I don't know if its just me having a bit of good luck,   but those packs were loaded with pets.  Not all Foo Dogs Sadly.  I ended up with  Goat monks,  Brown Spiders,  Ninja pigs,  Life ghouls, Yellow ghosts, Yellow Elves and one Foo Dog.  It's a myth one,  or rather an Imperial Foo Dog called Sierra, who gets a cyclops card at baby.

 I haven't trained her yet so and not really sure of her loved pet snacks,  but fingers crossed when I do begin to train her she will manifest some useful talents.  There are six different Foo dogs to collect and I so want some more hopefully I will get lucky with some hatches.  I already have one failed attempt :(  It would have been an ice one.  Anyway back to the Kirins Hoard pack I didn't get a mount but I did get some great new gear.  I love my new look,  no weapons were picked up,  but that Rokugo Helmet well I love it.

Wizard Weekly Giveaway - Foo Dog Pet And Wizard Tag

I did not mean to be absent for so long but work and children have eaten up alot of my time these past few weeks.   I will get my nose back to the grindstone and will get a proper post out very shortly and reply to your comments.

New Wizard Test Realm

Wow interactive housing is now available on the test realm,  ( if you like tag ),  seems like I was only just talking about this.  Hang on I did mention it in my last post - spooky.  Anyways, this game will really, really appeal to my children.
I have pinched some of the blurb from the Update notes ,  you can visit the link for a more in depth explanation.

A new housing object will allow players to play a game of Tag at their Castle or Dorm!

The housing kiosk has a 'Press X to Start the Game' option that will open a window to show you variants of the types of Tag you can play.   ( That's right it seems there are two different types of tag ! )
The game is only active in the interior and exterior of the currently occupied house. Other houses that players can get to using housing teleporters won’t participate in the game.

Important Notes

  1. All types of Tag games will un-mount you for the duration of the game.
  2. All types of purchased and quest transformations will not appear during a Tag game, but the transformation and mount rental timers will continue to countdown for the duration of the game.
  3. You cannot equip a mount or transformation while you are participating in a Tag game.
  4. You cannot teleport to friends who are playing the same Tag game. 
  5.  Players who are participating in housing PvP are exempt from the Tag game until they leave the duel. 
Tag your it, and your a Gobbler.

A couple of things I thinks great about this new ' interactive housing '.  From the description,  it appears more than two people can play the game.  ( It does not mention a maximum number of players ) So if someone has a Sultans Palace or Fantasy Castle there is the potential for some pretty epic games of tag.
If you are on/have been tagged depending on what game you are playing you will either become a gobbler or fire elf,  ( Thats just fun anyway )
The possibility of other future interactive housing items, games is definitely there,  thats what I am looking forward to - bring on my interactive wallpaper.

Ravens Hoard Pack - A Little Review

Well I finally gave in and bought a few.  I didn't get a mount or the moonflower both of which I was hoping for  ( I have heard mixed reviews of the moonflower,  but I still wanted one ).  But I have to admit I was really pleased,   I received two pets a grumpy snowman ( card at baby ) and the Storm Bird ( card at ancient ).

I also was lucky enough to get the greatly desired bow. I really love it.  It's an ice weapon giving six hits of 100 damage as well as two  ice traps.  I tried to capture some images of me using it,  but I could only seem to get the angle from my back. So heres me holding it.

I also recieved alot of housing items in the ravens hoard packs I bought,  usually I am dissapointed when this happens as I'm primarily purchasing the packs for mounts, seeds and pets.  But this time I was really pleased.  I loved the furniture items.  I picked up a cuckoo clock, some cool wallpapers a teleporter ( wow ) and a chicken coop which has an adorable baby chicken that runs around. ( As well as a few other bits and bobs ).

The cuckoo clock and the chicken coop have an active visual action,  unlike some items of furniture,  which are just really showy pieces.  Which made me think about other furniture items I'd picked up recently and what I would love to see more of.  Around Christmas I purchased the milk and cookies item and loved the fact that you could eat the cookies and drink the milk. You actually got to interact with an item in your home.

I would personally like more interactive items.  I would love to see lights/lamps that you could switch on or off,  chairs that you could sit in.  I would love wallpaper that gradually performed an action.  I have a cloudy sky one below and would love it if the clouds slowly moved across the screen and I would simply adore a night sky wallpaper with stars that twinkled slowly on and off.

Perhaps one of the things I would love to see the most in terms of housing would be items your pets could interact with.  Such as bedding/baskets,  perches for the birds.  Items they could play with balls,  squeeky toys and so on.  I not exactly sure how this would work should items be able to be used by any pet,  or a specific item is only for a certain type of pet.  Either way I love the idea itself.

Gardening, Questing And Crafting With Pets In Mind

As mentioned in my last post, I have decided to concentrate on a few select pets, raising them all the way to epic without the aid of any mega snack packs. Let's be honest using mega snack packs is probably the fastest, most time efficient way of training your pet. True,  there is a large cost of crowns and you never know what you are going to receive in the mega snack pack,  but you don't need that many mega snacks to get a pet to at least adult. However,  with a little patience you can still get great pet snacks in a variety of ways and keep crowns for other precious purchases. I have decided to garden, craft and battle my little wizard heart out and see how far along I can raise my new pets.


 
Concentrating On My Fierce Hound.

This was one of the pets that I mentioned I would be raising in my last post. My fierce hound Mister Rusty is a death pet so obviously likes death snacks. Fierce hounds seem to be a relatively health conscious pet as they also like their vegetable snacks. So by feeding him death vegetable type snacks I am giving him the snacks he loves the most, which in turn gives me valuable extra pet XP points after each feed.
The list of loved pet snacks for the fierce hound I have so far observed are  Dastardly Radishes ( Rank 6 Snack ), Cauliflowers ( Rank 5 Snack ), Orange Jalapenos ( Rank 2 snack ) and Evil Carrots ( Rank 1 Snack ). 
You can usually find all the above loved snacks in the bazaar and simply purchase them with gold. Though Dastardly Radishes can sometimes be a little more tricky to find in there. Cauliflowers the lower Rank 5 snack are often available and usually tend to be reasonably priced around the 800 mark, which is great as they give 8 XP points per snack. I have also been getting a lot of the cauliflowers as drops from street fights in Winter Tusk.

Gardening With My Fierce Hound In Mind.


All of the above snacks can be harvested from my garden,  I have been concentrating on harvests of the dastardly radish and the cauliflowers for the higher XP points.
Grapes of wrath, yes they are a pain to grow, often yield dastardly radishes. Grapes of wrath are abit unusual as they dislike garden gnomes, but I have been speeding up their growth with a fickle pickle, they also like the crafted weapons rack. 


The relatively easy to grow prickly bear cactus often produces caulifowers along with many other great pet snacks. I am speeding up their growth by placing a pile of sand by them. Once you have one prickly cactus they almost always drop another seed you can go on almost indefinately with them.

Liked pet snacks which can be harvested or crafted that will give your hound experience of over 5 XP points each feed are listed below.
Crab apples – Rank 8 Snack – Very rare harvest from the prickly bear cactus.
Killer tomato – Rank 7 – Burning Snap Dragon, Purple & Red Grapes of Wrath.
Dr JalapeƱo – Rank 7 – Red Bell Pepper
Raising Bran Cereal – Rank 6 – A crafted snack – Recipe available from Darina Bloodflame found in dragonspyre ( The Atheneum  In The Boot Shop, You can also pick pets up from here ).  Crafted using basic crafting table.

Another way of training any pet quickly without mega snacks.

OK I so I've mentioned how I am trying to get some of the best loved and liked snacks for the fierce hound. There is another way to level pets up without using mega snacks, it can be wasteful, but it can be very fast. Just feed it everything, throw everything at it that rates high on pet xp points. You will not get any extra bonus points for feeding liked or loved snacks, but you still get points! It's amazing over a period of time how many snacks can build up in your back pack. It's a quick way of cleaning them out.  There are concerns that using this method can make your pet more likely to manifest a selfish talent.  But there is no concrete proof of this.  So if you are in a rush go for it.
